Why can't I sync my iPhone 5 to my iMac OSX Ver 10.6.8?

Why cant I sync my iphone 5 to my imac OSX Ver 10.6.8

Device is recognised in Itunes, however unable to transfer my playlists from Imac to my Iphone via itunes. Is the Imac too old ? I have updated all software on imac and iphone to the lastest versions but still encounter issues.

I don't know, but I'd like to think that if you have the latest version of iTunes and an uncorrupted iOS version, the sync should work without a problem. Have you tried contacting Apple Support?
