my iphone 5 is not charging it is only showing the red battery while charging.. it is totally dead now and while removing charger it is showing symbol to charge

I don't know. Have you tried using a different cable or outlet? Is it possible that the iPhone has water damages? I can only assume that the charging connector or assembly on the device is messed up, but that's just my guess. If it were me, I'd make a Genius Bar appointment with the nearest Apple Store to have them diagnose the problem.
