I have an iPhone 5 that had water damage and now it won't charge. What could the problem be?

I have an iphone 5 that had water damage.

I have an iphone 5 that had water damage. I have taken apart the iphone and cleaned the logic board with alcohol and all that seems good. I have the iphone currently just the connections connected so i could test it to see if it works. It does, the screen turns on and tells me to connect to itunes. But when i connect the usb cord from my computer to the iphone, nothing happens, at first it was good. It downloaded the latest firmware and then when it was going to install to the iphone. It disconnected and now when i connect the iphone it says that the device is unrecognizable, was just wondering where I could go from here and how or if i can fix it?

Obviously something has failed... and it's bound to get worse. Don't put any more effort/money into it... it will become a brick.
