Has anyone accomplished using the iPhone 5 as a hot spot with Windows 7 via the USB connection. (I prefer this as it keeps the phone powered, and I feel more secure)

I cannot find it as a network adapter in settings in Windows as the iPhone suggest under "Personal Hotspot"

In WindowsXP my iPhone5 shows up under Control Panel>> Network Connections when it's plugged in and the Personal HotSpot is turned on... that might be a place to start...

Well... there isn't until you jailbreak. Or, do the obvious: add the tethering feature to your plan with AT&T or change to a plan that includes tethering.
