    Hi,

I do not know if I'm at the right place asking this and I did not want to go to the Apple store right away unless I get some opinions about it, but here is my problem:

Recently, I have found dust build up inside the camera. Meaning that there are random spots on my photos everytime I take a photo. There would be a speck in corner of a photo, if not in the center.

Is there a way to clean it up? Or do I eventually have to go to Apple and have my device 'opened up'?
And no, I do not have Apple Care.

    Thanks

That should be covered by the standard warranty and be handled accordingly at an AppleStore.

So just set up a Genius bar appt., and have them take a look at it? What can(will) they do?

If it's determined to be a hardware issue - they will typically replace the phone under warranty.

Why not just for the heck of it try and see if the dust might be on the outside lens and use a gentle blow of canned air not aimed directly on the lens but as I said just a gentle hit of air. Then of course if that is not it, Hit the Apple store for sure.

Agreed. Apple stores are usually really good about this sort of thing. So long as you don't come across as someone trying to take advantage of the system.

Last week had to take my iPhone 5 for this same problem. Went to Genius Bar and within 30 mins I was out of there with a replacement phone. Yes I had an appt.

If that can be reproduced at the store then you will most likely get a new phone.

I had an appt last night, and they replaced my phone no questions asked! Great customer service. I'm really glad, thanks for all the comments from everyone!

there are tons of threads like this over on macrumors forums. i actually had a speck of dust on the inside of my lens on my original iphone 5. i went to apple and they were able to clean the speck off, no issues after that. the phone came from the factory like that and they stated it was due to the manufacturing process. others have had the phone replaced under warranty for this. just bring it in and they will take care of it under warranty.
