T-mobile LTE Update for unlocked iphone 5's coming 4/5 :-)
Got this from another forum. Great to know that the rumors of anyone that had an unlocked iPhone 5 wouldn't get the LTE update from Tmobile. The key is however that your model must be the A1428 unlocked model. So basically, I will get to see the LTE from tmobile even before those that preordered the "tmobile version" of the iPhone 5!
Not sure how to post url's here yet. Sorry.
The only way to get an iPhone on T-Mobile the past few years was to go out and buy an unlocked iPhone and put a T-Mobile SIM card in it. Now that T-Mobile has become an official carrier, a lot of iPhone users that are already on the carrier want to be able to use LTE but can’t.
To make things better, T-Mobile says they’re going to rollout an update for all unlocked iPhones on the network starting April 5th. The update will flip the switch on features that aren’t currently available, like LTE and Visual Voicemail.
The update is coming directly from Apple through iTunes, so all devices should get the update at the same time. The iPhone 5 doesn’t officially launch on T-Mobile until April 12th, so existing iPhone users will get a week to play around with LTE before everyone else does.
As reported by TMoNews, here’s the official details on the update:
“The T-Mobile Carrier Update is a minor iOS software update that enables official iPhone support by T-Mobile. When installed, the software update enables a handful of capabilities like Visual Voicemail, MMS Settings and Network/Device optimizations that customers do not have access to today. On April 5, the software update will begin being pushed via OTA to all iPhone devices on the T-Mobile network with iOS 6.1.x or higher.”
