    Angry iPhone 5 Non-responsive

    Hi all,

ive been noticing an issue with my phone, sometimes after a long period of no use, the phone is completely non responsive. home button- no response, power - no response, volume - no response, silent switch - no response.

it fixes itself after a few min. same thing happens on my friends phone. we both have 16gb white iphone 5s. mine is 1428 other one is 1429.

both upgraded to ios 6.1.3 ( had the same issue on earlier versions)

does anyone else have similar issues?

Assuming you are stock for now why not at least try a hard reset even though you and your friend are having the same issue. Hold down the home and Power button until you see the Apple logo and let it restart. If this does not work try setting your phone back up as new. If none of this works you should more than likely go to your local Apple store and a resolution.

Define "a long period of no use". The longest time of inactivity on my iPhone 5 is during the time when I am in bed (8 hours tops) and when I reach to check overnight emails, early morning messages, etcetera, it responds immediately without any delay or hesitation. I, too, am on iOS 6.1.3.

The both of you might want to either restore your devices as new via iTunes or take it to a nearby Apple Store to possible get it exchanged and/or have a genius troubleshoot it.

Give Apple a call and see if there are any shipping options since you are in another country.

Apple does free mail in replacements...also, did you buy this phone from a carrier or from Apple online? If you bought it from a carrier, go try and get a replacement from the carrier.

I have a similar problem. Every now and then I find that the the phone won't respond to anything. If a call comes in the phone does not ring but the caller is not sent directly to voice mail either. The phone shows a missed call but it doesn't ring or light up. The only way I can resolve this issue is to hold the home button and lock button at the same time for about 5-10 seconds. Then the phone will reboot. I have a Verizon 32gb with the latest official OS. This drives e nuts. I haven't gone to apple because I haven't had time. I'd love a solution. I'm starting to have flashbacks to the day when my blackberry storm would do this.

I have yet to experience anything like that with my iPhone 5 so all I can recommend is to restore it as new via iTunes. If my device ever start functioning improperly, that is the very first thing I would do, but that's Just Me, D....

Four phones is not the same as four out of four. This is a case of at least four out of millions. Others have suggested things they've done that helped. You have the us phone. That would be the easiest to work with.

Something else to consider: where are you buying these phones? If they're all coming from the same location, is the cash you're saving worth the headache you're enduring by skipping authorized retailers?
