iPhone 5 how to get that shortcut dot on screen

Just seems to be a lot of extra buttons to tap for the lock screen. When I touch the assistive touch button, brings up more options. How do you program the assistive touch button to automatically lock the screen without having to go to the list of options again.

Yes extra steps but saves the home button which has been known to go bad on some devices.
I don't think you can program it to directly lock the screen.

I've been using this feature since my home button takes 4-5 hard presses to respond!

u can do it that way going through settings like he said or simply hit the main circle home button 3x fast to bring it up or take it away!!!
