If I have some movies saved on my computer is it possible to put them on my iPhone and play them while I am on vacation?

Yes, just place them in the movies folder for iTunes media and when you plug your phone in, just make sure to check off the movies sync button.
They also have to be in an mp4/m4v (I think) file so make sure to convert them if they're not.
Correct by default. There are third party apps that allow you to play other formats. And other apps that have a server component that you run in your PC that converts them in the fly and streams them to your device.Quote:

Just download handbrake and convert them. Then import into iTunes, sync and done!
AVPlayer is pretty good for movie playback. Airview lets you stream your movies from the PC via WiFi.
Handbrake is an encoding program, which usually takes a fair amount of time.
Depends on your setup. It is fairly quick converting them on my iMac...Quote:

I put together a simple video outlining the steps involved in converting your own videos. Once converted it's a simple matter to sync the iTunes/videos to the iPhone:

Of course you can, Handbrake them up, load into iTunes with metadata using iFlicks and you are good to go.
Is Handbrake available for PC?
Edit: Never mind. I see it now.
Though a little old, but can do help I think: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
If you guys wanna put movie in every formats possibles, all you have to do is to download a app like oplayer or avplayer, you transfer the files through itunes, this is it
it supports, .avi, .mkv, .wmv and all
same confusion happens to before, but finally it was solved by wondershare video converter, i could use it to convert movies to ipod/ipad/iphone supported formats and enjoy then. you could have a try by downloading the trial version here: Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate - Wondershare Official
I noticed with iTunes 11.x that there is a folder called "Home Movies", another called "Movies", then you have Podcasts, etc. Home movies seems to be stuff you ripped or didn't come from the iTunes store so when you drag them into iTunes they will likely go into that folder. But otherwise I have nearly 500 movies in my folder and a couple in the other from the iTunes store.
