Default Is the READ/ DELIVERED Messages feature accurate??

I want to know if anyone has had a message say, that it had been READ when sent to another iPhone user, even though the other iPhone user, didn't open it at the time it lists? How accurate is the READ (day&time) feature??

That happens cause they read it when they got the text message.

    I don't think it's particularly accurate.

It's been pretty accurate for me, and I text friends who use it all the time. I haven't noticed anything fishy about it other than a 2, maybe 3, second delay from time to time.

Of course it's accurate, it won't update to "Read" unless they open the Messages app and select the appropriate convo.

Nothing new here, I had read receipts on my BB back in the day with BlackBerry Messanger.

However the delivered status can be inaccurate. Friends have iMessaged me and the message shows delivered but I never got it.
Dude! You slapped a fish. You punched it! Why would you hit it?

Haha come on, it's 2012. Messages and emails don't get lost. Stop avoiding your friends.
