Mail not pushing

I have had no issues in the past but now I do not receive emails unless I open the mail app.

I have a gmail account and I never get my emails. It happens on my iPad mini as well, if I open the mail app the emails come through.

I have mail set to push in settings.

Any thoughts ??

It's doing it for my gmail and yahoo I have the same issue but not my iCloud

Do you have Gmail set up as Exchange?

Settings, mail, push, turn it on, then you have to set up timed interval for fetch. You can also go into advanced and set the timer up differently for gmail and yahoo if you want.

I am pretty sure that they don't support push unless set up as exchange hence the fetch timer I described above.
If you set up as exchange, it will reduce your battery up time.

Gmail doesn't push to iPhone unless you set it up as Exchange.

Fetch works fine either way.
