Vibrate ONLY in Silent mode?

I'm new to iPhone and didn't see this posted anywhere. Might only be possible with Jailbreak. I wanted to know if there is a way to have my alerts only vibrate when the phone is in silent mode? I have the option ON for "Vibrate on Silent" in SOUNDS. Problem is that I don't want my notifications to vibrate the phone when I am NOT in Silent. If I turn off vibrate for a notification, like message, the vibrate won't happen when its in Silent mode. So sounds like it has to happen all the time or none.

Anyhow, just curious if anyone else came across this and had a work around.

You can turn off the vibrate on ring in the same menu.

yes i am on iOS6 (iphone 5). man i saw that option and thought it only related to phone calls, so i left it on cause i like it to ring and vibrate just for that. didn't realize that affected all sounds. thanks a bunch guys! i'll leave that off since i don't talk much anyway.

did this option only appear on iOS 6?
