My battery life on the 5 has been superb. Whereas I could not make it through the day with my 4S without charging at work, the 5 gets through the entire day and is still at 30-40% when I plug it in at night. I have been pleasantly surprised!

Can't complain at all about iphone 5 battery life. Better than my 4S. Both AT&T.

You might as well turn the phone off with those settings. You shouldn't have to significantly limit the functionality of the phone to get decent battery life.

The 5 has been terrific for me battery wise I've usually hit about 8 hours usage with it and I'm around 15% when I plug it in at night. Still don't have an extra lightning cable but I've been pleased with it

It's also not true that turning off wifi helps battery. In fact the only circumstance where it would is if you're somewhere with worse wifi reception than 3G/4G. Otherwise (in most circumstances), wifi tends to be a stronger signal and thus makes your phone work less hard to maintain it...thereby reducing battery consumption.

Anecdotally, my iPhone spends around 90-95% of its day on wifi and I have yet (in two weeks) to drop below 70% by the time I go to bed at night. Obviously usage differs person to person, but I've been very impressed.

I have a question on this topic. I was having crappy battery life on my iPhone 5. So, this morning I set the slider on icloud to on for contacts, enabled icloud, then did a backup which I assume put my contacts on the cloud and nothing else? I had like a 5.6 MB backup. Next I restored as new. It didn't seem to bring over anything, settings, photo, etc. I then turned on icloud and contacts and it downloaded to my phone.

Did I do all of this right as far as not bringing in junk from before and just getting my contacts back? I want to make sure 100% that I don't have settings and junk left over so I can be assured of a new iphone and optimal battery life. I appreciate any input.

Definitely improved. I notice I'm on it a lot more (because it's new). And I still end up getting home after about 12 hours of using it unsparingly with about 55%. Still I take the lightning cable to work just incase. Haven't been able to find a spare lightning cable in stores.

Maybe my battery life is good because I restored my 5 from a backup of my 4S which also had great battery life. This is only the 6th charge since getting my 5 on Sep. 21st.

About 4 hours of solid music, 3 hours of talk, and 3 hours of LTE/WiFi and music.
Edit: Disclaimer: For two minutes, it was connected to my Mac, syncing.
