why cant I see my screen now that voice over turned itself on?

I have an iphone 4s. I was attempting to turn it off the other night, after swiping it off the apple symbol lit up and then my screen when dark and voice over is on. I can communicate with Siri. I tried to backup and restore it. it backuped and said a restore was not possible. I ordered another iphone 4s and it was doing fine till i plugged it into my mac and itunes and tried to load my backup. Now the recently bought iphone is doing the same thing. HELP!
