My iPhone 4s is in recovery mode and when I connect to iTunes nothing happens, why is it doing this?

my iphone 4s is in recovery mode and when i connect to itunes nothing hap[pens

tried to back my phone up and it went into recovery mode showing the itunes blue picture and the computer cable my iphone will not turn off and will not connect to itunes

To exit from recovery mode press and hold Power Button + Home Button for 10 sec up to 15sec. Then release both. And press Power Button and hold for 3sec.
