My son thought he could do it himself. And now it won't work at all. Will verizon total equipment protection take it back

From what I gather from reading a summary of it, those who are enrolled in Verizon's Total Equipment Protection plan is protected from loss, theft, accidental damage and defects. Having said that, I assume your son "accidentally" damaged his device while trying to repair it, right...
