How does one monitor what iTunes does during an iPhone software restore?

I have been thinking about this for quite a while. I looked online for hours, but to no avail. I want to know how to monitor what iTunes does when it restores your iPhone. Not the processes it runs. I want to know what code it executes, detailed steps of what it does. For example:

1) Unpacks .ipsw
2) Runs BlahBlah Code Core
3) Restores Firmware
3a) Restores SHSH blobs
3b) Blah blah blah

Anyone know a program/method which would allow me to do this? Thanks!
