calendar alerts

is there any way to add an alert to the calendar with a time frame of more than 2 days?- 1 week or 2 weeks or 5 days would be so much better.

The closest thing that I've found is to select the 'repeat' feature and then select every week or every two weeks, etcetera and then provide an end date.

Two other options:

1 - If you make the calendar event an All Day event - you do get an additional option of one week before.

2 - Setup a Reminder and pick a date - you may want to do this in addition to the calendar entry so you're calendar is blocked and you see it.
