Backside broken overnight... No function anymore?!?

Hey there.
I got a weird problem with the new iPhone 4S of my wife.

She used it at 11pm in the evening, everything was fine. Afterwards, the bumper protected phone was packed in its protection case and stuffed to its special place in her bag. Best protected iphone ever.

The next morning she pulled it out of her bag and the backplate was loose. Check the image here:

The iPhone does not do anything anymore.... Seems like something in the inside... Exploded?!? WTF.

I cannot describe what happened here... I resverved a place at the genius bar at thursday, but i wanzed to hear your oppinion...

Take it to Apple and see what they say. My money's on a warranty replacement...

i agree. looks like the battery failed. i would take it to apple to see if they offer a replacement under warranty.

Hey again!
Went to the store yesterday and leaved with a replacement phone. They opened the back and the batterie looked like melted... Crazy stuff.

Yes! And they instantly prepared the old one for shipment to the quality assurance department... Good think it was in the pocket in the living room and not at the charging pod next to the head of my wife.... *_*

This reminds me of the original Mac Book Pro battery and the batts they replaced it with. Same thing would happen.
