If the 4S original purchase date is within the past 30 days, you can add on Apple Care+ from Apple. If it is over 30 days, you may want to look into Square Trade. Not sure if they have a deadline to add it on.

Not sure who your provider is but last month Verizon had open enrollment for their TEC. I put it on my Craigslist purchase 4S and my wife's almost year old 4.

I am also curious about this. I am the original owner but am outside of the 30 day window.
I have read in several spots about people bringing in damaged phones to Apple and the rep letting them sign up for Apple care outside of the 30 day window. Has anyone been able to do this with an undamaged phone?

Go with SquareTrade, it's $149 for an iPhone that is more than 30 days old. Coverage includes drops, spills and all other failures, looks like you're SOL if its lost or stolen though. Deductible is $50 per "valid" claim. It's about as good as you're going to get on an iPhone thats past the 30 day mark!

I didn't know you could get square trade outside of 30 days.
I am curious if anyone has purchased the Zagg protection.
