DIfference Between Auto Backup and Right Click Backup?

can someone tell me the difference between when you plug your iphone into itunes and itunes and your computer automatically back your phone up when it starts to sync and when you right click on your iphone in itunes and you manually hit back up? are there any differences and benefits between the two?

No difference. Right click backups are good for people who also do iCloud backups because now thats the only way to backup to computer now.

so minus using the icloud for back up why would they even have the option to manual back your phone up if it does it automatically when you plug your phone in?

Some people have automatic actions disabled in iTunes. It can be a pain if it wants to sync/backup EVERY time you plug in your phone...
