why is GPS on?

i just noticed the triangle icon in the top right is on and i don't have any apps open at all. if there any reason for gps to be doing some sort of background work ? maybe this is part of the whole 4S battery drain people were talking about ?

Go to settings, location services and it'll show you what's actively using it, or what's used it in the past 24 hours. There will be arrows by the relevant apps.

very helpfull !!!! i didn't know that. so i checked it and it's the reminders app. i was showing siri to my sister and i forgot i set a geo fence reminder so i guess it's just checking to see when i got to that location.

also if it ever happens again and you dont see an application using it check the system services.. I was traveling and saw it come on without a application using it and it was the setting time zone setting

I tried it out once just to try it out.. but when I realized that the device was going to keep gps on the whole time I new I wasnt going to use this feature much
