Siri Raise to Speak

I've seen that with Siri I should be able to raise my 4S to my ear and begin speaking. Nothing happens.

I've got this setting turned on. Any suggestions?

It does it when I put my phone to my ear. It should on yours too if the setting indicates that.

Phone cannot be on lock screen FYI...it must be awake. Let it sit for a second and you'll here Siri initialize.

Siri initializes every time I take my phone out of my pocket! I have to leave it unlocked at work or it loses wifi and you have to go through this double sign-on screen to get it back...

ooooohh.. is that what that setting means?? LOL

I was having troubles with SIRI hearing me, so i disabled that thinking it meant you had to raise it for it to work right.. and it seemed to make a difference

well.. now i feel dumb
