4S Restore FAILURE!

Like a lot of 4S owners I am having baterry issues. I read that doing a restore might fix it.

So I tried giving the restore a go, but it failed with this alert:

The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.

I went to Apple's link from the error dialog and followed the instruction but that didn't seem to help.

Right now I don't need to restore but it bothers me that I might not be able to if needed.

Also, I did not try DFU mode. I'm kinda gunshy about it.

Anybody else run into this?

Do you have tiny umbrella on your computer? If you do there's an option that tells it to connect to Cydia or something like that. You need to uncheck that. I think that it may be in the tiny umbrella preferences.

Holy carp! That was it. I had Tiny Umbrella on my Mac 2 years ago then deleted it. But its prefs were still active. Re-installed then deleted with app zapper.

I owe you big time!
