Auto-Brightness Not Working?

So, after having the 4S for a few days, I noticed that the auto-brightness feature doesn't really do anything. It can be pitch black, and the screen never dims and vice versa.

Anyone else seeing this with their 4S?

mine was keeping it too dim, I turned it off.

My iPhone auto brightness works fine, but I have the same problem on my iPad 2 where it never works.

Well, at least I know it's not just me...

Any iPhone/iPad vets out there that would have an idea why this is happening? Would a case be causing this?

Same here I don't really see the point in that are the led light that blinks once and if you miss it your just out of luck.
