The LED Notification setting will flash the camera flash on the back of the phone whenever a new notification comes in to the phone. Unlike the Blackberry, it will only flash when the notification comes in. It won't continue flashing.

The LED light on the back of the phone flashes when you have notifications. But it only flashes when the notification notifies. It doesn't continuously flash like a blackberry.

Will have to try it, but if the phone is flat on a table you won't see it right?

That kind of sucks. The light is pretty useful.

Re: LED Flash for Alerts (4s)
It took me about 5 minutes to figure this out. It's says 'for alerts' so you have to go into your notifications and choose an app and make the alert style an alert. Banners won't work.
Ex. Settings > Notifications > Messaging > Alert Style; Alerts.
When you have your phone locked your phone flash light will flash super fast. I hope this helped

My daughter uses that feature on her i5. I don't use it on mine because my phone is never faced down to see the notification.
