Phone not recognized by iTunes

When I plug my iPhone into my laptop, it vibrates to say it's charging so I know my USB ports are working, but my phone is not coming up in iTunes. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Could be an issue either with the USB port or iTunes itself. Meaning, your USB may be below USB 2.0 connectivity or you have too many computers authorized for iTunes (limited to 5 total I believe). Try looking into that and see if it fixes it.

My USB ports are 2.0 and this is the only computer that has the account authorised with as the phone is brand new

I have got it now, all it took was a reset
