"other" data problem

On a 16GB iphone4, I have .96GB on audio, .09GB photos, 1.77GB apps, .01GB books, 1.20GB free and 9.8GB other!!!!!!!

I read a few blogs that say you can open itunes (phone connected), click on the phone, click on summary at the top, uncheck "open itunes when the phone is selected" hit sync (or apply) then reselect the option and sync/apply again to fix the issue. This is not working...any other suggestions? I am at the point now that anything else added maxes out the usage of my phone which clearly should not be the case.

You should try a restore. After upgrading to IOS5 I had the same amount in Other. After the restore it was less that 1 gig.

Yeah I tried that early this morning and I got the same result. Verizon is sending out a replacement device.
