Sound issues

My phones earpiece does not work for some reason.

When I raise the volume it says headphones under the word ringer.

I can have a conversation on speakerphone but the earpiece does not work at all.

Any ideas ...

Has it been exposed to water or does it have water damage? That is one of the main symptoms of a water damaged iPhone.

Actually it's my moms phone.

I'll ask her.

It would send it into headphone mode ? Kinda weird but seen weirder.

Is there a way I can check for water damage.
