Is there any big difference in iOS 4.2.9 over 4.2.8? Really not sure if breaking my jailbreak just for this is gonna be worth it... my guess is to wait for iOS 5 before doing any upgrading?

All it does is fix the PDF exploit for jailbreak. At least that is what it says.

Not sure why its over 600mb to fix that, but eh.

Because it's the whole iOS... Apple does not release patch files... they fix the exploits and re-release the whole iOS.

This is expected to change with iOS 5 and wireless (OTA) updates...

When I got my iPhone 4 a few weeks ago the woman at VZW told me she knew nothing of it. I know to take that with a grain of salt, cause we know all about sales rep's knowledge of such stuff. Anyway she stated that they'll probably just skip to iOS 5.

I don't think that the Verizon iPhone and the AT&T iPhone will ever have the same iOS (at least not the same number i.e. 4.2.9 or 4.3) partially because of posts such as this:

Verizon says its 4G phones won't be compatible with AT&T's LTE network

I doubt Apple will release in unison an iOS build that supports multiple versions of radio.

Probably completely wrong but that's my two cents.

The Verizon & AT&T iPad 2 are both on 4.3.4 so I doubt that the iPhone 5 will be any different.

I agree. If Apple did it with the iPad 2, I can certainly see doing this with the iPhone 5 as well.
