expensed lottery tickets

Once, when the lottery jackpot was especially high, I purchased lottery tickets to hand out to my staff as a low-cost morale booster. Essentially I had handed them the chance to dream big for a while.
You can imagine the surprise of the accounting department to see lottery tickets on my expense report!

I had to expense .01 miles. Yes that's right 1 hundredth of a mile. I had to pick something up from a different location (it's on my way in to work). The difference in mileage was .01 miles and my boss made me fill out a mileage report and expense it. The total value was less than a penny and because it must be signed by 2 managers it took about 30 minutes to be dealt with. They kept telling me "it's policy for us to pay you for ANY extra mileage'

Once, back in the day, there was a store called Pen Island that sold a multitude of pens for every occasion or need. I was on TDY with the USAF at school for a few months and was allowed expenses for educational materials, notebooks, pens, books, etc. I heard about these packages of pens that Pen Island would sell for super cheap so I went online and ordered 100 of the gel grip, gel ink pens.

On the expense report, it read:

100ea. gel grip from penisland.com (not a working site now)

The official folks at finance didn't find it very funny when I had to explain it was PEN ISLAND, not an adult novelty store...

Unlike a lot of TiPb readers, apparently, I seem to have a slightly stronger moral compass as regards to what I'm willing to expense, and as thus don't have anything so outrageous as worthy of reporting here. Hope that doesn't keep me from being eligible to win a sweet new iPhone though.

Twenty years ago, in socialist Spain, when corruption was the dat-to-day, in the Offcial Budget of the State, they claimed an expense in paper that was more than the actual world production of paper. Who could believe that?

I once got crazy and got a lot of money and went out, i was so bored i entered the "Hibiscus" restaurant in London having no idea about its price. And when the receipt came i know how crazy i was, i paid $130 for just a dinner! I really regret that day now, lol.

Too many iPhone screens

Well... the craziest thing I had to put on an expense report were 5 iPhone 3G screens... IN ONE MONTH!

When I was getting used to my iPhone 3G and we had a really really cold winter I have dropped my Phone five times in one month (breaking the screen each time) and I got invoices for all the new screens I got.

I dare anyone to beat this with only one iPhone in your company.
