I have an iPhone 3G that I just found which was lost for a while. It currently has iOS 4.1, I, for obvious reasons, want to install Find My iPhone which requires 4.2. I start up iTunes and try to upgrade to 4.2.2 and it gives me a 3194 error.

The iPhone was never jailbroken, and I do not have the SHSH Blobs or whatever.

The 3G cannot be upgraded to 4.3, so now what???

I think that phone has a permanent downgrade option to something like 3.1.3, should look into that. I haven't had one but people talk like the phone is so much faster and usable on 3.x.

Anyway I am not sure where the firmware left off with the 3G but apple should still be signing it. Make sure your hosts file is cleared out so itunes can reach apple.

I need/want 4.2 on the phone so that I can install Find My iPhone... this phone belongs to my three year old... yes my three year old, who puts it in weird places... which is why it was missing for so long...

Yeah, ok, 4.2.1 then... Whatever version it tries to install when I start up iTunes, 4.2.1, 4.2.2, whatever.... I click upgrade and it doesn't complete with an error of 3194 and how do I fix it?
