Battery icon flashes during charge (don't charge though)

I have been having an issue with my phone that just started, when I plug my car charger into my phone the battery icon that usually shows a lightning bolt as it charges is flashing between the lightning bolt and a plug icon and it does not charge when this happens. Thinking it was the the aftermarket charging wire I tried my wifes phone but hers works perfect.

Any ideas on what the flashing battery icon means? If I let it sit something pops up about this accessory is not working" But again works on other phones.

It's possible the accessory is not compatible with your iPhone. If you and your wife have the same version of iPhone but only yours isn't working, then it's possible your port is damaged.

Yes, there are some chargers that are not compatible with the iPhone. They may be able to charge an iPod but not an iPhone.
