You can buy insurance through Verizon. It is 10.99 a month (I think it is going down to 9.99 on 6/1/11) The deductible is 169.99 for a 16gb and 199.99 for 32gb. The deductible is high but for anything other than warranty exchange you will be paying retail 749.99. Well worth it in my book.

Or you could have simply went to apple store and paid 199 for repair. Unless you're worried about losing it or it getting demolished into pieces, you don't need insurance. It's a waste of money.

Let's see, $199 for phone, about $65 in fuel, 7 hours of time, $10 for a quick meal. Think I'll keep my Assurion for convenience.

i'll stick with that then. i've been hearing about Asurion being a one time only thing? so if it happens twice(accidents/lost/stolen) in the same year or more...would you still be eligible for a deductible?

Two incidents per year and I think $1500 maximum per year.

I just talked to best buy the other day and they off coverage for 15.00 a month but don't cover lost or stolen. He told me the stock verizon insurance was 13.00 with a 150.00 deduct does that sound right?

The insurance I pay for the iPhone right now through Verizon (Asurion) is $10.99 a month, $169 deductable for 16 GB/ $199 for 32 GB. Their info was off a little at Best Buy.

I'm not a fan of Best Buy coverage myself but they did change their policy on insurance. They now will cover lost or stolen devices. I just don't like their policy on if you have a problem with the device they have to send the phone out to be checked out and then replaced verses buying it from Verizon and if you have a problem they can give you a new one right from the store.

Apples and oranges. Warranty, repair and insurance are very different in what they do and do not cover. If you don't care for insurance, that's your call to make but warranty/repair won't cover loss/theft which has already been mentioned in this thread.

As for the cost argument that is, again, a personal call. Not everyone's in a situation where a fallback device is an option or even desired. Full retail is fairly high for the iPhone.
