contact categories

Hi! I am the proud owner of a new Verizon iPhone and had a question I can not locate an answer for. Is there a way to categorize your contacts? On my blackberry I could label contacts as friends, coworkers, family, etc? I don't see a way to do that on this device but I may have missed something. Please let me know! Thanks.

There's currently no way to create contact groups on-device but if you sync contacts over it will keep the groupings you have in the cloud or on your local machine.

For example, I use MobileMe and have contacts grouped in Mac Address Book. All that is preserved when they get synced to my iPhone.

Can I assume this does not work if you are using google as an exchange account?
