A micro sim adapter is your safest route. I have seen people making an adapter out of your old sim. I don't know if your carrier allow it but I have used the Rogers web site to switch back to my old sim that was previously tied to the account and back to the micro sim. Be awear that the home made jobie might break off in the sim slot or bend the connecters.

Actually, just walk into an AT&T store and have them give you a normal sized sim.
Just come in with your 3GS and say you need to use it because you screwed up
your i4 or something. They'll give it to you. After that, just get a micro sim again.
