How to prevent bumper scratches

I am new to the iPhone world having come over from the " Dark Side " of the Blackberry world. I read where people are getting scratches from the Apple bumper for the iP4. I am very OCD about my phone and always have it protected. I love the style of the bumper. What I did to prevent the bumper from scratching my iP4 was actually very simple. I wipe the entire inside and outside of the surface of the bumper with a silicone gun cloth. It has worked flawlessly for me and also got rid of the " Squeaks " the bumper sometimes makes when I grip the phone. I also rub the cloth along the outside of the frame surrounding the phone. I hope this helps a ll of you with the scratch & squeak problem. It worked for me.
