Have seen (mostly on eBay) silicone caps for the headphone and dock connector. Is there in value in using them? They're not very expensive.

Depends how you use your iPhone. I run a restaurant and fine them handy particularly considering I go in and out of freezers and hate the thought of falsely setting off moisture detector.

smalcom:

I tried them on my iPad. The headphone jack plug works very well, however, the docking port plug kept falling out to the point where I no longer use it. The docking port plug (at least the ones I had) would fall out of the port any time it brushed against something or as I rotated the iPad and my hand brushed it. But you are correct in that they are very inexpensive and may work well for you. Good luck.
