Vibrate Switch, alarms and calls

Okay, I see a silent swithc. I also see in settings one under silent which can toggle vibrate or not, and another under ringer and alerts that can toggle vibrate on and off. What is the difference between the three setting switch and two in settings?

Also, say I need to get phone calls and hear the alarm, but no other notifications (say I am sleeping) how does one accomplish that?

Vibrate switch under silent means should it vibrate on an alert when the silent switch is on.
Vibrate switch under ringer means should it also vibrate when silent is off and an alert plays a ringtone.

You can't really do the senario you suggested while sleeping without going into settings and turning off what you don't want and leaving the silent switch off.

If you put the silent switch on, calls, email, and txt/mms messages will not ring, however alarms will still play as they ignore the silent switch.

i never use ringtons. always on vibrate. if i am sleeping in or dont have class it goes on silent.
