Ok, this is what I want to do. I have an Android now, but thinking of going to the iphone. I have an ipad, but when I had my gmail account, I can't sync the contacts, why??????

How can I sync my contacts and calendar with my ipad, google account on line, and my Android (maybe iphone) if I decide to purchase one?

There has got to be a reason why Google isnt syncing for you properly, because that would be the best option for syncing contacts and such across multiple devices.

My guess would be that you opened the email account on your iPad as gmail. I believe you need to open it as exchange. There is definitely a thread here somewhere on the settings for the server etc... To get that working. Once you do that, the contacts will sync right over.
