Silent no vibrate?

My BB had a "bedside" mode. It would turn off all notification and dim the screen. I already got a nightstand type app . Does the iPhone have anything like this?

Which nightstand app did you wind up going with if you dont mind me asking?

You can go to settings and turn vibrate off so when you put the phone in silent you will get no vibrate.

That doesn't work... when the phone is switched to silent mode, it always vibrates... has to... otherwise, how would you know you were getting called/texted/notified?

No! Go to Settings-Sounds- then toggle the top switch "vibrate" off and then when you toggle the switch to silent it won't make any noise or vibrate. It will be completely silent, only the display lights up when you get a call or text.
