Yes it is free. When i ordered, it had a visual voicemail box in the features list with $0.00 beside it.

If you have any saved voicemails you need to somehow get those saved following the procedures outlined on Verizon's iPhone support preparation site - because once you activate your iPhone, your old voicemail box goes away - and once it's gone, it's gone.

Well, I dropped my BB Storm 2 last year and the screen shattered, I got a brand new (they are generally refurb though) phone with all accessories for $80, I only had to send the broken shell back (I somehow lucked and got a new battery, charger, usb cord, AC adapter, etc all for $80 xD). Does Applecare replace your phone if you drop it and shatter it? (Even for a price?)
