swapping two iphones

Im purchasing a second iphone ( a iphone 3GS ) as a secondary Iphone.

I was hoping to sync this second phone to my itunes account and get all my apps and photos etc on the new phone.

I assume that when I plug in the second phone it will prompt me to do a back up from my most recent backup from my iphone 4. This is a good thing, but will it replace my iphone 4 in itunes or will it become a second phone in itunes,

I would like to be able to keep both phones synced via itunes.

Yes you can sync both phones to one itunes account. If the phone has been restored back to factory, it will prompt you to sync from a back up
