so with the preorder, are we going to have to go through that verizon preorder page that was sent in the email? or will we be able to sign into myverizon at say 2:55 and then refresh at 3 and see the iphone there as an available phone? i dont know how past preorders worked

From my experience you should be able to just sing in to My Verizon and select which line you want to upgrade.

Under normal circumstances, yes. However, there are a lot of surprising loopholes about this iPhone4 pre-order process. I'm going to go with, yes, you should be able to.
