I think I am going to go with 32GB. I currently have 8,000 + songs in my collection and with 32GB I would be able to fit 6-7K on it and maybe have room for some pics. I hope...

32GB for me. I have a large iTunes collection and I want to be able to download videos and apps without worrying about storage space. For me the extra $100 is money well-spent---I learned that lesson when I bought an 8GB iPod Touch (3rd gen).

How does memory on the iphone work? Is it simple like ipods? I have a droid incredible with a 16gb card inside. It's sorta confusing. It goes phone memory, 8gb internal memory, then 16gb external memory.

...there ought to be a 12-Step program for that :D

There's an app for that ;)

Anyway, I'm getting the 16GB because I'm a poor college student (and when I get it in May, I'll be a poor college graduate), and because I suck at organizing my music, I make like, three playlists and sync that, so it's never very much. I also get really sick of songs quickly, so I have to change it up. I've only got around 4 gigs on my Touch right now, and I've never needed more. 16GB will work for me!

Question: Will a 32 hold its resale more than a 16? Or do they both depreciate equally?

Surprisingly, storage space rarely factors into resale value. If you look on Craigslist or EBay at used iPhone/Touch then whether it's 8th or 32gb then the prices are usually the same.

That said, we're buying devices that will cost $100/mo to operate. So skimping for 16gb just to save a few bucks is probably going to bite you later. HD video recording, apps, music, apps, video, apps and apps tend to take a lot more space than you expect.

I think that is wrong! I do a lot of selling and buying phones on Ebay and 8gb, 16gb & 32gb iPhones do not go for the same price. Storage does make a difference. I don't see 32gb 3GS going $150.00 and anyone who would pay over to $300 for a 8gb iPhone (which is what 32gb iphones are selling for now) has issues!!!

Agree more storage space= higher resale value

if you dont need the 32 gigs then dont spend the extra 100 bucks i mean you will still get good resale for a 16 gig if you wanted to sell it later on

I look at it this way. I'm going to pay retail whatever that may be. What's an extra $100 bucks! LOL maybe next year or when the next one comes out they will have a 64GB version! :D

The iPhone has a great camera (for a cell phone), and shoots 720p video. That can chew up a ton of space. Going on a family vacation with a 32gb (minus your content) HD camcorder is nice.
