HD games on iPad?

Noob question time.

If i'm under the assumption that the iPhone 4's retina screen is better than the current iPad, then for example why are there HD titled games for the iPad but the same game on the iPhone 4 would not be labelled HD

more examples: Rage for iPhone and RAGE HD for iPad, Asphalt 6 for iPhone and Asphalt 6 HD for iPad and so on...

Can someone please explain the obvious to me

Well the iPad has a higher resolution screen. The iPhone 4's is only "better" because the pixel density is so high, it's still lower resolution than the iPad.

ye he said it the ipads screen is a higher resolution and its bigger so the quality needs to be good
