Messages don't show badge if I dismiss the popup

Sometimes I'm playing a game or in an app with no multitasking and i receive a text. If I go and dismiss the pop up to reply later the messages icon won't get the little badge.

This has got me into problems countless times as I don't reply to people for several days. I forget I had a text.

So far I found two things:
1 - if I turn off message preview in the popup the badge shows up (but I also want the preview so I can decode if the text is important or not)

2 - if the text is to big to fit in the popup even with preview on and if I dismiss it the badge shows up.


I'm jailbroken but don't want to install any alternative messaging apps. I just want something that puts the default one showing badges when you dismiss a message preview.

Anything on Cydia or any kind of help at all on this?

Why not install a Quickreply function from Cydia? Not sure of the cost or if it costs anything but may that fix the problem?

It might help, yes. But what if I want to make a long reply and I'm in the middle of a game? I want to be able to see the badge later.

But thanks. For 50% of the situations that would fix the issue.
