This is exposing the flaws in the Patent System in this country in how people will exploit it in order to make money by useless, greedy litigation. Many people who file these patents have no intention on designing or creating what they patent. They do it as future insurance that they will one day "cash in" on a large corporation who happens to think of the same thing. What people fail to understand is that it is not unheard of or impossible for people to get the same ideas about something without even being in vicinnity of each other or even hearing about one another's ideas. Google the "Hundredth Monkey Effect".
This Cover Flow patent is as ridiculous as someone trying to patent the way mobile devices play music or some other inane common feature inculcated into everyday technology. We need to begin drawing the line at this ridiculous litigiousness in America or else we'll be heading towards a freeze in innovation and progressing technological achievements. Society thrives under improving what was done, not on suppressing it, claiming it as a selfish, personal acheivement, not to be emulated. If we continue doing this, we will effectively be putting a stop on our intellectual evolution.
