Is gamecenter the deal maker for 3G owners?

After reading the headlines about the nixing of the iPhone 3G from the gamecenter feature, I was just curious who will now upgrade to the iPhone 4 (or even 3GS) to have this feature...

I'm a little saddened to learn 3G people won't be online with gamecenter, but I do like the sort of exclusivity of keeping it on the current models.

current models? it's on the iPod touch 2g w/iOS 4.1

not sure why the iPhone 3G didn't get it, oh well i'm just glad that the performance issue is fixed

Current model iPhones is what I was referring to...the iPod touch 2nd gen is almost a shoe in because it was the top portable gaming system based on app DL's or whatever it was they determined that on, so it's inclusion was no surprise to me.

happy with no more lag on 3G, but no game centre waited all day for this update then found out at last min no GC :-( can some one tell me y..
