Default Setting up work e-mail on old phone

I gave my old 3gs to my wife. Her IT guy at her work said I needed to release the IMEI from my account and he will need my old sim card to set up the phone on their account. Her phone number is on her works account and not my account. I called AT&T and they said the IMEI is not on my account anymore as I have the I4 now.

I have already put my wifes sim card in the 3gs and the phone works fine for phone calls, text and pop 3 e-mail.

Is this IT guy full of it or is he speaking the truth?

The IT guy knows not of what he speaks. Maybe he's used to CDMA phones. Once you pop your sim card in a GSM phone - it's yours. He doesn't need your old sim card, he needs her current sim card. Sometimes IT stands for ***** Tech.

Or sometimes it stands for I Tried. If I had a nickle somebody at work mentioned that to me although I try very hard not to be the typically much hated IT guy.
